Hypothermia is a condition which occurs when the body's temperature is 95 degrees or less. Exposure to cold air or water, especially with wind chill, or low amounts of food paired with summer-like clothing are two possible ways to get this.

Symptoms:

  • Red or blue tinted skin

  • numbness and shivering

  • 95 degrees or lower body temperature

  • Slurred speech and unpredictable behavior starts appearing the lower the body gets. Eventually, organs start shutting down and cells begins to die.

Hypothermia can set in within minutes in extreme conditions.

Treatment:
--Remove wet clothing
--Wrap the victim in a blanket, sleeping bag, or other cloth covering the head and neck as well
--Shelter victim from weather (wind and water)
--Do not allow victim to walk around even when appearance alone seems to be recovered
--Take them to a warm place keeping them wrapped up when possible
